These bulbs are priced retail in the big city Nursery stores for 12.99 to 15.99 in containers with only 2 or maybe 3 bulbs per container: ) These flowers are also known as Surprise Lily, Magic Lily, Resurrection Lily, Naked Lady Lycoris Squamigera. Family: Amaryllidaceae Genus: Lycoris Species: squamigera Height: 12-18 inches. Bulbs should be planted 4-6 inches deep, 3-6" apart in full sun in well drained soil. They are hardy in Zones 5 -11. In mid-summer, they will have the most gorgeous pink blooms, often 6 or more per plant. They will come up in early spring and have green strap-like leave frons which will die down (they nourish and feed the bulb below ground for its July/August summer bloom). They will just magically appear overnight in bloom sometime around July/August. You will need to water them regularly, but please do not over water. These bulbs will multiply in a few years and you can divide them and share them, or transplant to another spot in your yard. Please email me with any questions you have. |
